New Home Design
Intelligence by Design.

Our Home Automation Design service is the foundation of a truly intelligent home.
We don’t simply install products — we design a complete control experience that integrates lighting, blinds, climate, audio-visual, security, and networking into a seamless, easy-to-use system.
By starting with thoughtful design, we ensure your automation works effortlessly today, scales into the future, and enhances the way you live — without clutter, compromise, or complexity.
A considered approach to smart living

Every home is different. Our design process focuses on how you use your space, not just where devices are placed. We work closely with homeowners, builders, and architects to create systems that feel intuitive, refined, and timeless.
From elegant wall controls to intelligent automation scenes, every detail is planned before installation begins — delivering a smarter result with fewer compromises later.

The initial consultation is on us and all subsequent consultations are included in your project at no additional cost.
We also offer a design-only service for systems installed by others.

For the best outcome, this process should take place at planning stages to allow adequate time, as the design process can be involved, depending on the size of your project

Our Delivery Process

Introduction

An initial meeting or phone consultation to better understand your requirements and become familiar with the scope of your project.
We’re also happy to chat about any part of your project or specific needs you might have. Feel free to ask anything you’re curious about!
We’d also love to give you a quick rundown of what we can do. If you’re planning to build or renovate, now’s a pretty good time to provide us with a PDF of your building plans.

Showroom Consultation

In this step, we take a deep dive into the detail of your project to begin developing a scope and detail.
We’d love to show you around our showroom! You can see, touch and feel the products, which will help you make the best choices and discover some things you might not have noticed before.
We’ll also suggest some ideas for you to think about, depending on what your project involves.

Create Draft Scope

With a bit more info and a clearer picture of the project, we’re ready to dive into the design and figure out which systems will be the best fit for your needs.
We’ll put together some marked-up plans and send them over so you can get a good feel for the project and make sure we’ve got your requirements spot on.
We usually give you a bit of time to absorb this, which might lead to more questions and ideas popping up.

Draft Proposal

As we design systems to suit a wide range of homes and lifestyles, it’s important that the solution not only meets your needs and preferences, but also aligns with your investment expectations. At this stage, we provide a clear and considered draft budget that reflects the design developed so far.
This budget is fully itemised, allowing you to see how each component contributes to the overall system. It also provides flexibility, enabling informed decisions to be made should you wish to refine or adjust elements of the design, ensuring the final solution is tailored to both your vision and budget.

Review Project Scope

Depending on the size and complexity of your project, this stage may involve a phone discussion or an in-showroom consultation. You may also choose to involve your architect, builder and/or interior designer at this point to ensure everyone is aligned.
Together, we review the project scope to confirm we’re ready to move into the final design stage. This is where any final adjustments are made — refining the details, adding or removing elements as needed, and locking in the overall project scope.
Once everything is confirmed, we issue the final specification, plans and costs for the project. Depending on the size of your project, there may be some further discussion to fine-tune the details before everything is finalised.

Scope Detail Approval
We're Ready !
Once the final plans, specification and pricing have been issued, we’ll invite you to review and approve the project so we can officially get started. This step confirms that all details are locked in and everyone is aligned before work begins.
With your approval, we move into delivery mode — scheduling works, coordinating with your builder, architect and interior designer, where required, and preparing our team to bring the design to life.
It’s an exciting milestone and the point where your project transitions from planning into reality.

Builder Introduction
At this stage, we meet with your builder to ensure our works are fully aligned with the overall construction of your home. This allows us to confirm installation details, timelines, key milestones and any site-specific requirements before work begins.
Building a strong working relationship with the builder is a priority for us, as clear communication and collaboration play a big role in the success of your project.
By working closely together from the outset, we help ensure everything runs smoothly and your project is delivered as planned.

Cabling Installation

The cabling installation is completed before walls and ceilings are lined, forming the backbone of your home technology system. This usually occurs once your bricks and roof are complete.
During this stage, our team installs all required cabling and works closely with your builder and other trades to ensure everything is coordinated, correctly positioned, and free from clashes with other services.
We also welcome you on site on the first day for a walkthrough with our team. This gives us the opportunity to confirm key locations, discuss any specific requirements, and make refinements where needed. Sometimes what looks perfect on a plan can feel different in real life, and this stage allows us to identify and resolve any potential issues early — ensuring the best possible outcome once the build progresses.

Equipment Installation Pre Inspection

Once the walls have been lined and prior to painting, our team returns to site to complete a pre-installation inspection. At this stage, we confirm all cabling has been correctly pulled through, is in the expected locations, and is ready for the final installation of equipment.
This inspection allows us to identify and resolve any issues early, ensuring everything is prepared and in place before the project moves into the final installation phase — helping to keep the build running smoothly.

Equipment Installation

Now we start to bring the project to life.
Following painting, our team returns to site to install all system components. This is a key milestone where your project really starts to take shape, with hardware, speakers, screens, controls and other components carefully installed throughout the home.
We work with care and precision to protect finished surfaces and ensure every component is positioned exactly as planned. By this stage, all preparation is complete, allowing us to focus on quality workmanship and attention to detail as the system comes together.

Commissioning
Commissioning is where your system truly comes to life. At this stage, our team programs, integrates and fine-tunes all components to work seamlessly together, ensuring everything is up and running exactly as intended.
This is a highly personalised stage of the project. We’ll work with you to confirm how you’d like key features set up — from lighting scenes and audio zones to control preferences and automation behaviours — tailoring the system to suit how you live and use your home.
An active internet connection is required at this stage, and we’ll meet with you on site to configure mobile devices and applications where applicable. If security forms part of your system, it is also enabled during commissioning, providing added protection as high-value equipment and finishes are installed throughout the home.
By the end of this stage, your system is functional, intuitive, and ready to be enjoyed.

Handover and On Going Support
Handover marks the completion of your project and the moment your system is ready to be enjoyed. By this stage, you’ll have received training on how to use the different components of your system, along with clear guidance on day-to-day operation.
If you have any questions, would like further training, or want help fine-tuning how things work, we’re always here to help. We’re committed to providing a high level of after-sales support, whether that’s over the phone, remotely (where system design allows), or with a member of our team attending your home if required.
While this stage marks the end of the installation journey, it’s really the beginning of your long-term relationship with Adelaide Home Control. Our team remains on hand to support you as your needs evolve and ensure your system continues to perform exactly as you expect.
